Samantha Shenoy, NP, Reflects on Importance of Advanced Practice, Nursing Presence at ASH Annual Meeting

Samantha Shenoy, NP, of the UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco, California, joined Cancer Nursing Today at the 2024 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting and discussed why nurses and advanced practice providers (APPs) should consider attending the meeting.

“It’s really important for nurses to be involved in these types of conferences with physician colleagues because nurses play such an integral role in taking care of these patients, managing their care, education,” Shenoy said.

She also highlighted how her experience at the ASH Annual Meeting as an APP has evolved over the years.

“I used to think that ASH was just a conference for the physicians, and now I really see the role that APPSs and nurses have to play in being a part of these conferences,” Shenoy said. “It’s so important for us to be up to date with the cutting-edge data so that we can educate our patients about this as well.”
